About Us

ThunderBolt Paper started for one reason: paper should come in the size you actually need.

Restaurants want menus cut to 5.5 x 8.5. Crafters want odd sizes no office store carries. Most paper companies do not sell those. We do.

Who we are

ThunderBolt Paper is a family-owned paper company in Nampa, Idaho. We have been working with paper for over 30 years. Every sheet we sell is made in the United States, and all of our cutting and packing happens at our Idaho warehouse.

We carry cardstock, parchment, linen, vellum bristol, chipboard, kraft, and colored paper. Tell us the type and size you want. Every order is cut to order, packed flat with chipboard front and back, shrink wrapped, and shipped to your door.

What makes us different

Custom cutting. Most paper sites sell 8.5 x 11 and call it a day. We cut to almost any size you ask for. Restaurants order 5.5 x 8.5 for menus, and crafters bring us whatever odd sizes their projects call for.

Made in the USA. The mills we work with are all based in the United States.

Any quantity. We sell 25 sheets to home crafters and 25,000 sheets to restaurants. Same care either way.

Real people. When you have a question, a real person in Nampa reads it and answers.

We help restaurants and bars with menus and drink lists, wedding planners with invitations and place cards, crafters with handmade cards and junk journals, small businesses with hang tags and inserts, teachers and churches with programs and projects, and print shops with stock for client work.

Thank you for supporting our family business. If you are not sure what to order, send us a note and we will point you in the right direction.

Quick answers

Common questions

What paper should I use for menus?

Most restaurants use 80# Cover smooth cardstock for single sheet menus and menu covers, and 60# Text for inserts and daily specials. We cut popular menu sizes like 5.5 x 8.5 every day. Browse the smooth cardstock collection to get started.

What paper works for invitations and cards?

80# Cover is the classic choice. Pick smooth for a clean modern look or linen for a textured, formal feel. If your home printer is on the lighter side, 65# Cover prints beautifully and feeds through almost anything.

Will your paper work in my printer?

Yes. Every sheet we sell is uncoated, which is exactly what inkjet and laser printers are built for. Set the paper type to Cardstock or Heavy for cardstock and you are most of the way there. The Simple Print Guide walks through the exact settings.

How is my order packed?

Every order is cut to order, packed flat with chipboard front and back, and shrink wrapped before it ships from our warehouse in Nampa, Idaho.

Do you cut custom sizes?

Yes. Custom cutting is the heart of what we do. If you do not see your size on a product page, send us a note with the paper type, size, and quantity and we will get you a quote.

Can I get samples before I buy?

Yes. We put together a free sample pack so you can feel the weights and textures before you order. Request yours here.
